1st person Bio
We are Shadow Monster, a sadcore garage-rock band from Brooklyn. We like to play in graffiti covered venues, low-ceiling basements, unfinished backyards, with a beer and a shot in hand, scream into the infinite abyss of grief and sadness, and transform the pain into glee and bliss. We play lyric heavy songs through a big muff about the immense weight of being human on planet earth. We are female-fronted, fuzz-heavy, intimate yet raucous, and heavily influenced by the emo/indie artists of the early 00’s like Built To Spill, Elliott Smith, and Neutral Milk Hotel. Our upcoming album, Elegy, is a seven song journey through the dark alleyways of deep grief and rejection, with hopeful glimmers of delusional love popping up sporadically, like stars in a sea of darkness.
3rd person Bio
Shadow Monster is a female-fronted sadcore band, completely saturated in angst and melodic dissonance. Gillian Visco (guitar), John Swanson (drums) and Nicole Sisti (bass), create a wall of fuzz-heavy gritty emotional sound, accompanied by catchy choruses and heartbreakingly relatable lyrics. Their last album Punching Bag was released in 2019 via Rochester, NY label Dadstache Records, and dealt primarily with the emotional scars of a toxic relationship, and the price that comes with losing yourself in the mess. The upcoming album Elegy adds an additional element to Visco’s songwriting as she sifts through the emotional turmoil of losing her father. Shadow Monster has a cult following in their hometown of Bushwick Brooklyn, but with this record, wish to expand to a wider audience, playing in different cities all over the country.
